Graffiti
So, here in Pensacola we have this bridge affectionately referred to as the “graffiti bridge” – the city doesn’t punish those who graffiti it. And the graffiti is constantly changing, like everyday changing. Any big event, you can bet there is graffiti about it on the bridge.

Week 21
Macro Photography – Ring & Flowers
2014 52 Week Photo Challenge
I’m Back! So, this week isn’t on the challenge either, but here we go!!
So I recently acquired a 105mm micro (same as a macro, just what Nikon calls them) and I’m still obsessed with playing with it. I am amazed at how much it captures and how I don’t need to be up on whatever it is I’m shooting. So, I decided to purchase a mixed bouquet from the grocery store and toss a pearl ring I have in their as the subject. What’s cool is that you can see some of the pollen in some shots. There may be a pollen based post in my future :)
And the colors! Oh how vibrant they are! I love it! :)

I totally dropped the ball this week!
As in I totally didn’t shoot my weekly challenge! Boooo, I know, lame. I’ve been crazy busy with life and it totally just escaped me.
I will be back on track next week, promise!!!

Week 19
Sun Flare
Yep, I stink at following rules (or lists or schedules or challenges). So, I fast forwarded a few weeks to sun flare. I used my 8mm fisheye lens to capture the sun flare in my back yard (please excuse all the leaves in the pool, our yard is surrounded by trees and there.is.no.stopping.it!).
I tried to do a little progression of no flare to sun flare. Annnd I’ll 100% admit that I totally forgot to shoot my challenge for this week and captured the sun flare in my backyard because, well, it was in my backyard. At least I’m still working on my challenges!!!

52 Week Photo Challenge
Week 18 – Moving Water
No, this isn’t on the list (at least I don’t think so). But I think it is a good topic!
I visited Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, AL (outside of Mobile, AL) this past weekend with my fiancé. I have to say, it is a must visit if you are near the area, absolutely beautiful. Anyway, while we were walking around the grounds we continually encountered some of the most beautiful fountains. Which sparked an idea for this week’s challenge – moving water. I absolutely fell in love with the mermaid fountain. :) I think I need one!
Here is my submission for this week:
These are all straight out of the camera, no editing. The colors were so vivid! All were shot with my Nikon d600 and a my 105mm lens.

Week 14 – Silhouettes
Disclaimer: I knew this was going to be a failure from the moment I stepped out the door. Why? Because I was walking out the door to go to the beach to shoot this challenge at 1:30 PM. The sun was too high. I knew that, I did it any way.

Week 13 – Macro.
I know what you’re thinking… Macro isn’t even on the list. This week I made up my own. Still a 52 week photo challenge? I think so. I’m challenging myself to do something different every week (minus last week where I ran out time and forgot to post, whoops!).
This is a look a the same flower 3 different ways using a macro lens.

This was right after some huge storms rolled through town so I was trying to grab some raindrops on the flower (weed?).

52 Week Photo Challenge – Week 12 – Flowers
Yes, yes. It is true, I have gone out of order again! I was out exploring my yard checking out the blossoms and I had to capture them. Spring has sprung in Florida! Since I captured them I had to share them. So I’m fast forwarding a few weeks to Flowers!
Enjoy a taste of spring!
These were shot using my 60mm macro lens on the D600.

Okay, okay. Week 9 is Animals. Well, as I mentioned in the last challenge post I don’t have any.
And I didn’t have time to go hunting some down. And it rained. (did you just read all my rationalizations/excuses as to why I’m not following the challenge order?!?)
Soooo I skipped ahead to something that I have at home all the time: SHOES! Yep, shoes. I shot the shoes with some continuous lighting in my living room. I hope you like them. :)

Notice the funny lighting in photo 2?? I bought a prism recently and haven’t had a good chance to try it out, so I used this challenge to “practice” with it. I’m sure you’ll see it again – hopefully outdoors with some really cool rainbow-y prism effects :)

Week 8 – Hands
As you guys know, I swapped “hands” earlier on so that I could figure out how I wanted to shoot it. Well, I was practicing with the self timer and trying to work triggers to capture a great shot.
Well, I went just about as simple as I could go: cell phone photography. Yes, that’s right. I used my cell phone for this week’s challenge.
I also used my favorite thing: coffee. So, you’ll see my lovely hands holding onto a cup of piping hot coffee. Yummy!

Check back next week for “Animal” – this one will be interesting since I don’t have any pets (silly lease says they are a no-no). Maybe a trip to the pet store is in order… Or maybe you’ll see some squirrels or birds from my backyard.
